‘Sacred Games’ by Vikram Chandra brings about a number of incidents ranging from crime to instances of foul play to love to the ambitions of the people, to the inexperience of a person leading an armed force, of people finding ways to make money and the struggles of a person fighting against poverty and a girl tracking down about her parents through the busy streets of Mumbai at the time wherein political chaos has been on the rise in the city, an idealist graduate taking cover under the Maoist guerrillas, a ‘sacrifice’ been performed by a right wing leader and a company attaining huge success under the leadership of a ferocious ‘bhai who has been also quite famous’ have been brought up by the book.

The author has been quite smart in bringing Mumbai, the financial city as the hero through a number of incidents and by portraying the city as a glamorous and a wealthiest one amongst the people throughout this book and these incidents connect quite well within the plot of a leading crime which has been portrayed by this book

The ‘Sacred Games’ written by Vikram Chandra is quite a griping novel as it is filled with lot of suspense of a well organized crime which lasts until the last page of the book and also brings about different aspects of Mumbai and of various characters ranging from the citizens of Mumbai to the chai-wallas and to the film stars.

The book, ‘ Sacred Games’ showcases Mumbai as a prosperous city in spite of all the illegal dealings that has been undertaken by the people due to greed and lust prevailing in the city and by taking undue advantage of the political turmoil which had been prevailing in the city of Mumbai.

A detective novel wherein a police officer is tipped off on catching the lord of criminals ‘Ganesh Gaitonde’ and shows why he has been credited as an efficient policeman in dealing with a number of crimes and in the tracking of blackmail cases and quarrel issues too.
