James Rollins is the author of many action-packed adventure-thrillers similar to the genres of Matthew Reilly and Dan Brown . His best selling books include Amazonia, Ice Hunt , Excavation, Map of Bones among others.

Just like the other authors, Rollins also has his own protagonist Gray Pierce, a commander in the Sigma Force headed by Painter Crowe. Sigma Force is a fictional division of the U.S. DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) program that handles global threatening events.Some of the titles involving Sigma Force are The Last Oracle and The Judas Strain..

To get started on his books, we recommend Amazonia. For those of you whove read Temple by Matthew Reilly, this title is similar in that it takes place in the jungles of Amazon. But the similarities end here. Temple is about a lost legendary Incan idol. Amazonia is about a hunt for a cure for an unprecedented epidemic that hits the U.S.

The major appealing factor of Amazonia is that the intrigue never ends. A lot of interesting and relevant facts about the Amazon region has been explained at the right time which also helps to understand the widespread disease and its elusive cure. Different encounters with animals of the jungle have been described vividly keeping the excitement alive. There are also the mercenaries who have been hired to kill and obtain the cure at any cost.

As the title indicates, the adventure and the hunt takes place deep in the jungles of the Amazon.

When Dr. Carl Rand and his international team of researchers were studying about the tribes in the jungles of Amazon, they simply vanish from the jungles without a trace. A search party from the U.S is organized but in vain as they do not find any remains of the Rand expedition.

Now, four years later, one of members of the research team fumbles out of the jungle and dies. Incredibly, the lone survivor went into the forest with one arm amputated and comes out with both hands intact! He also brings with him the curse of Ban-ali, spreading an epidemic more contagious than a common cold and more virulent than the ebola virus.

The cure to contain the epidemic and the answers to all the mysteries lie in the jungles of Amazon.Puzzled by this incredible incident, a new team is formed by the U.S government; Nathan Rand ( Carls son) is a part of the team.
